Question 1

Kling o3 Edit vs Kling o3 Ref — what's the difference?

Accepted Answer

Kling o3 Edit modifies a video clip you already have — swap subjects, change backgrounds, extend scenes — while preserving motion, lighting, and framing. Kling o3 Ref generates a brand-new video clip that matches the camera movement, pacing, and style of a reference clip you upload.

Question 2

When do I use Edit vs Ref?

Accepted Answer

Use Edit when you already have a clip and one specific element is wrong — product, background, logo, wardrobe. Use Ref when you have a clip whose feel you want to replicate across new shots, or when you want to clone a trending social-video format with your own subject.

Question 3

What inputs does each accept?

Accepted Answer

Both require a video clip (3–10 seconds) plus a text prompt. Both accept optional image or video references to layer additional guidance. Edit outputs match the input clip's duration; Ref outputs 3–15 seconds.

Question 4

Do they cost the same?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Both bill at roughly $0.168 per second of generated video — the same rate as Kling 3.0 Pro's motion tier. Tab bundles access into your plan credits.

Question 5

Can I chain them?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A common Tab workflow: generate a hero shot with Kling 3.0 Pro, use it as a Kling o3 Ref for style-locked variants across the project, then use Kling o3 Edit to fix any specific element in a final pass.
